Ready Set Stitch
Please read the following policies before booking. When you sign up for a class or Studio membership, or participate in an event at Ready Set Stitch, you agree and consent to the policies that apply to your purchase.
Students: We teach children, teens, and adults. The minimum age for children to take our classes is 8 years old, although some at that age are more ready than others. If you trust your child to safely handle sharp objects, your child is probably ready!
Prepayment: All classes require registration and prepayment, which can be done online or in store. Sign ups generally are open until 24 hours before the class or series starts. Workshops and other events may have different registration or prepayment requirements.
Tuition and Materials: We set our class fees to cover the cost of instruction and related overhead. The cost of materials and the use of our sewing machines (and basic notions such as pins, scissors, etc.) ARE included in the fee, UNLESS otherwise stated at the time of booking.
Extra Time: A student may need extra time outside of class to finish a project. You are welcome to use our classroom machines or the Studio to do so. Please contact us to arrange a day and time so we can avoid any scheduling conflicts.
Cancellations and Rescheduling: We understand that things happen and sometimes neither of us (Ready Set Stitch, or you) can make a class. We will do our best to give you as much advance notice as possible and ask that you do the same for us.
If we have to cancel a class/series after you’ve paid for it but before it begins, we will give you a full store credit.
If we have to cancel a class/series after it has started, we will offer a make up for the missed class(es) or give you a prorated store credit.
If you wish to cancel a class/series after you've paid for it but before it begins, at least 7 days in advance, we will give you a full store credit to apply to another class/series. If notice to cancel is given between 1-6 days in advance, we will give you a 50% store credit to apply to another class/series. If notice that you will miss a class is given between 1-6 days in advance, and unless otherwise stated at the time of booking, we will offer to schedule a make up class.
Note: Emergency cancellations will be handled on a case-by-case basis. We cannot offer refunds or store credit for classes that you cancel or miss without giving us advance notice. Thank you for understanding.
Membership is charged as a flat fee for a 30-day period (a “month”). You may choose for your membership to automatically renew, end after a certain number of months, or end after one month. You will only be charged at the start of each month. We cannot offer refunds for any unused portion of a month (gotta pay the landlord and keep the lights on!).
Membership includes access to all rooms and use of all machines in the second floor Studio. Please be advised we will occasionally use all or part of this space for classes and events and will do our best to give you advance notice when the Studio will be unavailable. We request that you “book in” to the Studio at least a day in advance so we can be ready for you.
During your membership, you may store your works in progress (WIPs) and materials at the Studio, as space permits. Please ensure your bag, box, or bin is clearly labeled, as we may need to move it to another location on the second floor when you are not there.
You are welcome to bring covered or resealable beverages and small snacks to fuel your stitching sessions. Please do not leave food or beverages with your WIPs or materials!
If you would like to use a Studio machine but are not familiar with it, ask a staff member first. You may need to take a class! All Studio members are required to take our Intro to Sewing Machines class unless you can demonstrate that you know how to use our machines. You are always welcome to bring your own machine if you prefer.
"Sit and ______"
"Sit and Knit," "Mend with a Friend," and "Sew a Kit" -- These are free opportunities to stitch together with our comrades-in-thread. Make new friends, mend things, make new things, learn from each other. No instruction is provided. Everyone is welcome. No reservation is needed. If we need to cancel, we will post notice on our social media. (Do you follow us yet?!?)
Sit and Knits, etc., are distinct from classes, which have formal instruction, as well as from workshops, special events, private events, etc., which have limited access or registration. A regularly scheduled Sit-and may need to yield to other events on occasion.
Ready Set Stitch is located in Ellicott City, Howard County, and is close to Baltimore County, Baltimore City, and Anne Arundel County. We will keep an eye on government alerts and closings, and if any affect our operations, we will let you know by email or text.
